Pianist, composer and arranger, Daniela Mastrandrea was born in the beautiful cultural city of Gravina in Puglia in 1981, and started studying the piano at the age of 7. She composed her first pieces when she was 9. In 2003 she graduated in piano from the "Nino Rota" Conservatory of Music in Monopoli (BA) under the guidance of her teacher Gabriella Bassi, at the same time carrying out studies in composition. 


She is the winner of several international awards for composition. In 2015, the panel of judges awarded her first prize for her piece "Luci e Ombre" (published by Editrice Rotas), and at the same time won the popularity vote. In May 2012, she won third prize for her piece "Ridi". In December 2010, her piece "Indesiderabile Tenerezza", not only won the jury prize but also the popularity vote.

In 2017, she won the First Edition of the Web Talent V.I.T.A. (Video Interactive Talent Awards) promoted by Believe Digital and Zimbalam Italy, winning a record deal.

Her first CD for solo piano was issued in 2005. This was 'Volo di Gabbiani', a collection of pieces she composed between the ages of 11 and 18. 2016 saw the release of her CD entitled 'Fluide Risonanze' (Ed. Odos Servizi S.c.p.l.). This was composed, arranged and performed for a quartet of flute, violin, cello and piano. A single entitled 'GAME OVER' composed and performed for solo piano, wasissued in 2017 and in 2018 a further work for solo piano, 'Lo Specchio', was released.

Her pieces and orchestral arrangements are performed by orchestras and groups in different parts of the world. 

Her numerous engagements nowadays involve working with the following people and organizations; the conductor Bepi Speranza: Crescendo Audioregistrazione of Bari for the creation of original compositions for publicity, arrangements and transcriptions: the Adkins Chiti Foundation; the I Solisti Veneti; the Quintetto Sardò; Mondo TV.

Daniela Mastrandrea was born in Gravina in Puglia on 24th May, 1981. She started studying the piano at the age of 7, and composed her first pieces when she was 9. In 2003 she was awarded the diploma in piano from the ‘Nino Rota’ Music Academy in Monopoli, where her teacher was Gabriella Bassi. She also studied composition under Vito Liturri, Marco Della Sciucca, Cinzia Cannito and Vincenzo Anselmi.

She subsequently attended several advanced courses and master classes in piano interpretation, piano duet and chamber music. Her teachers included Konstantin Bogino, Alessandro Moccia, Paolo Bordoni, Bernadette Tripodi, Carlo Forni, and Loredana Paolicelli. She also attended jazz workshops with Roberto Spadoni, Luca Bragalini, PietroTonolo, Davide Santorsola, Roberto Ottaviano, Rita Marcotulli, and Bebo Ferra. 

She is the winner of a number of awards for composition. In 2015 she was awarded first prize by the jury panel for her piece Luci and Ombre (published by Editrice Rotas) in addition to the popular prize. In May 2012, she won third prize for her piece Ridi. In December 2010 her piece Indesiderabile Tenerezza won both the jury and popular prizes.

In 2017 she won first prize in the first edition of the V.I.T.A. Web Talent show, promoted by Believe Digital and Zimbalam Italia, and was awarded a recording contract. 

In 2004, she met Klemens Fischler, who in 2005 produced her first CD Volo di Gabbiani, for solo piano. This is a collection of pieces she composed between the ages of eleven to eighteen. 2016 saw her CD entitled Fluide Risonanze (Ed. Odos Servizi S.c.p.l.), which she composed, arranged and performed in a quartet (flute, violin, cello and piano). In 2017 her SINGLE entitled GAME OVER was issued. This was composed and performed for solo piano. In 2018 a new work for solo piano, Lo Specchio, was brought out.

In 2003 she performed as a pianist for the show MATER with music by Vincenzo Anselmi and interpreted by Elisabetta Gardini. The show was given a number of repeat performances: on 26th December in Ruvo at the Church of St. James the Apostle; on 27th December in Canosa di Puglia at the Church of Gesù Liberatore; on 28th December in Trani at the Cathedral; on 29th December in Ruvo di Puglia at the Church of St. James the Apostle; on 30th December in the main church of Rutigliano.

In 2004 she was the pianist, composer and arranger for Voce ‘e notte. This was a show with words and music, and was created and written by Mariagrazia Pani with Mariagrazia Pani (soprano), Giorgio Aldini (narrator), Marcello Recca (tenor), and Daniela Mastrandrea (piano). The show was repeated: on 8th September 2004 at Sammichele di Bari, in the Caracciolo Castle as part of the Korostas Dance Festival for the Piccini Foundation; on 5th April 2005 in Trani at the Impero Theatre as part of the 2004/ 2005 Apulia Public Theatre Season; it was also repeated in Lecce.

In 2005 she was the pianist for the musical theatre show Quel pezzetto di cielo interpreted by Pino Caruso, with music by Vincenzo Anselmi in the following performances: 18th December in Trani at the Church of St. Joseph; 19th December in Corato at the Church of Maria S.S. Incoronata; 26th December in Ruvo di Puglia at the Church of St. James the Apostle.

In January 2007 she made her debut in a jazz trio at the Eliseo Theatre in Rome and the performance, a tribute to the great Michel Petrucciani, included some of her own compositions. The trio was made up of Roberto Scillitani on bass, Lorenzo Nicoletti on percussion, Daniela Mastrandrea on piano and special guest Ettore Lopinto on sax.

On 15th May 2011, a musical project called Fluide Risonanze was presented at the Vallisa Diocesan Auditorium in Bari as part of the Fourth Concert Season of the 'Bottega dell’Armonia' (OBA) Youth Orchestra. Daniela Mastrandrea played the leading role as composer, arranger and performer of her own pieces for quartet (flute, violin, cello and piano).

On 21st March 2012 she arranged and played pieces for a recital at the Vallisa Diocesan Auditorium in Bari entitled Poèmes de la liberté for the Bari branch of the Alliance Française.

On 21st May 2012 at the Circolo Eridano in Turin she arranged and played pieces for a recital entitled Sous les ponts de Paris… s’envole une chanzon for the Turin branch of the Alliance Française. 

On 10th March 2013 she took part in a concert-show entitled Varia Età in the San Michele Conference Hall at Monte Sant’Angelo (Foggia) for which she was the pianist and arranger. The performance was given by the I Sol in Cor Choir conducted by Rossella Ressa with Daniela Mastrandrea at the piano. 

On 26th March 2013 she arranged and performed pieces in a recital entitled Les Voix de Paris at the Vallisa Diocesan Auditorium for the Bari branch of the Alliance Française.

In 2013 she worked with Antonietta Cozzoli, Vincenzo Anselmi and Lorenzo Mannarini on the orchestration and arrangements of pieces for a performance entitled Una croce con le Ali based on texts by don Tonino Bello. It was premiered on the 21st April 2013 in Molfetta at the Church of the Madonna of Peace. 

In 2013 the Adkins Chiti ‘Women in Music’ Foundation (whose president is Patricia Adkins Chiti) selected her piece Leggiadra carezza to be included in the musical revue Incontri con le Compositrici 2013 (Meetings with Women Composers 2013) and performed by the Ragazzoni Piano Duo in five different presentations (in Frascati, Trevi in Lazio, Rome, Alatri and Fiuggi). 

In 2013 one of her pieces, Pantù, was selected for the Zecchino d’oro, a national Italian singing competition.

On 20th March 2014 she arranged and played pieces in the recital entitled L’étrangeté de l’stranger in the Vallisa Diocesan Auditorium in Bari for the Bari branch of the Alliance Française.

On 12th May 2014, the La Bottega dell’Armonia Youth Orchestra conducted by Bepi Speranza performed her pieces La sorgente and Leggiadra carezza, in a premier performance at the Church of Santa Teresa dei Maschi in Bari.

In 2014 she composed, arranged and orchestrated the animated cartoon Libro cuore, in a series of 13 episodes for Produzioni Mondo TV.

On 20th March 2015 she arranged and played pieces in a recital entitled Le voyage at the Vallisa Diocesan Auditorium in Bari for the Bari branch of the Alliance Française.

In 2015 she wrote 13 original compositions, inspired by short stories from the book by Fulvio Frezza entitled Meraviglioso Vita e amori di Domenico Modugno (ed. Florestano). They were turned into a show entitled Meraviglioso remixed which had its first performance on the 20th November in Barletta, as part of the Cialuna libri eventi gusto season.

In 2015 she presented her work Volo di Gabbiani in a concert for solo piano on 8th March in Barletta for the Cialuna libri eventi gusto season, as part of the revue 'DONNE IN MUSICA'. She gave repeat performances: on 23rd June in Barletta, at the Terrazza il Brigantino; on the 25th August in Conversano, at the Cloister of Santa Maria dell’Isola.

On 18th March 2016 she arranged and played pieces in a recital entitled L’Amour in the Vallisa Diocesan Auditorium in Bari for the Bari branch of the Alliance Française.

In 2016 she arranged and orchestrated music for the 2016 MAXIMAorchestra in Show Tour 2016 interpreted by Elio Arcieri and Mario Rosini. It was given repeat performances: on 21st May in Bari at the Royal AncheCinema Theatre; on 24h July in Casamassima in the Aldo Moro Piazza; on 12th November in Altamura at the Mercadante Theatre.

In 2016 she composed and arranged music for the comic film Casa : 2 = Risate written and directed by Roberta Bellini.

In 2016 her new work for flute, violin, cello and piano entitled Fluide Risonanze was presented in a number of concerts: on 1st May in Barletta as part of the Cialuna libri eventi gusto; on 22nd Mayin Bari at the Le Muse Music Store; on 9th Junein Gravina in Puglia in the Cloister of San Francesco; on 10th Septemberin Gravina in Puglia at the Ettore Pomarici Santomasi Museum as part of the revue of music and poetry Pentagrammi Diversi; on 9th Octoberin Barletta in the Athenæum Hall as part of the 17th Artistic Season of the Athenæum Artistic - Cultural Society.

In 2016 she arranged and orchestrated music for Christmas Melodies, a show interpreted by Maria Enrica Lotesoriere and the tenor Gaetano Piscopo. The show was repeated on 22nd Decemberin Bisceglie at the Garibaldi Theatre and on 23rd Decemberin Castellana Grotte at the Socrate Theatre.

On 27th January 2017 she was the pianist in the show MILLE PAPAVERI ROSSI under thedirection of Maurizio Vacca,at the Communal Theatre in Gioia del Colle.

On 18th February 2017 she was the pianist for Artisti a San Nicolawith Elio Orciuolo (conductor), the Opera Choir, Maria Grazia Trentadue (voice), Vincenzo Mandarino (tenor), Daniela Mastrandrea (piano) and Federica Del Gaudio (cello) intheSt. Nicholas Basilica in Bari.

 In 2017, the Adkins Chiti Women in Music Foundation (under the directorship of Patricia Adkins Chiti) selected her piece La sorgenteas part of the SPRINGFESTIVAL CONCERT of WOMAN: MUSIC OF WOMEN COMPOSERS and performed by the Solisti Veneti under their conductor Claudio Scimone. Repeat performances were given in Rome and Padua.

In 2017, together with Vince Tempera she arranged and orchestrated music for the show MAXIMAorchestra in Show performedby Sarah Jane Morris (voice), Tony Remy (guitar), and Roberto Ottaviano (sax). The show was repeated on18th March in Corato at the Communal Theatre, on 20th Octoberin Trani at the Impero Theatre and on 21st October in Bari at the Palazzo Theatre.

On 25th and 26th March 2017, at Santa Sofia in Gravina in Puglia her work Fluide Risonanze was proposed as the sound track of the Giornate di Primavera del FAI and in the Final Concert.

On 9th April 2017 she was the pianist for Poeta andaluso, spagnolo, universaleperformingLlanto por Ignacio Sánchez Mejías from Liriche su Federico García Lorca by Domenico Molinini, with Annalisa Balducci (soprano), Caterina Daniele (contralto), and Daniela Mastrandrea (piano) in Corato at the Alfredo Oriani Liceo Classico.

In May 2017 she was one of eight composers from all over Italy chosen to compose in one night a piece for 100 Cellosby Enrico Melozzi and Giovanni Sollima, andperformed by 100 cellos for the Lucca Classical Music Festival in Lucca at the Del Giglio Theatre.

On 12th June 2017 her work for flute, violin, cello and piano entitled Fluide Risonanze is presented in a concert in Acquaviva delle Fonti (Bari) in the Parish Church of Santa Maria Maggiore.

On 24th June 2017 with Vince Tempera she arranged and orchestrated music for the show The Italian Songs of BURT BACHARACHperformedby Marzia Bi (voice) and Vince Tempera (piano) in Bari in the AnfiTheatre della Pace.

In 2017 she was the pianist and arranger for the concert-show Vintage Sounds performed by the L’Arte Rapsodica choir and conducted by Nicla Didonna with Daniela Mastrandrea at the piano. The performances were repeated on 3rd July in Noicattaro in the Cloister of the Palazzo della Cultura, on 17th July in Noicattaro at the Church of Santa Maria Del Soccorso and on 6th Octoberin Cellamare at the Elena Augusta Centre.

In 2017 she worked with the Quintetto Sardò on original arrangements specially composed for the quintet. Performances were repeated on 29th Julyat La Maddalena, La Maddalena Officers Club; on 30th Julyat Tempio di Pausania, Spazio Faber; on 2nd August a Barumini, in the Su Nuraxi Archaeological Area; on 2nd Septemberin Arzachena in the Risorgimento Piazza; on 12th Novemberin Serrenti at the Communal Theatre; and on 13th Novemberin Carbonia in the Astarte Hall of the Coal Museum .

On 15th September 2017 together with Vince Tempera she arranged and orchestrated music for the show MAXIMAorchestra in Showperformed by Badrya Razem (voice) with Special Guest Mario Rosini, in Benevento at the Communal Theatre. 

In December 2017 she was the pianist for the Paganella in Coroconcert withmusic by Ariel Ramirez for solo, choir and instruments in the Latin-American tradition, and music by Mozart, Rossini, Fauré, Franck and traditional Christmas pieces. Her composition Un bambino di nome Gesù based on a text by Letizia Cobaltini was performed by the InCanto Armonico choir conducted by Bepi Speranza and with Daniela Mastrandrea on the piano. The concert was repeated on 13th Decemberin Bari at the St. Anthony Sanctuary; on 15th Decemberin the church of Andalo; and on 13th Decemberin the church of Spormaggiore.

On 5th January 2018 she was the piano accompanist for the InCanto Armonico choir conducted by Bepi Speranza in Bari at the Berukhà Village.

On 14th January 2018 the Soloists of the Lirico Theatre of Cagliari, the Quintetto Sardò, performed her arrangement of Volver by Carlos Gardelforthe presentation of their CD, in Cagliari at Auditorium del Seminario Arcivescovile.

On 17th February 2018 she madeoriginal arrangements for the Quintetto Sardò for their concert Note da Film performed by Vittoria Lai (soprano), Luca Soru (1st violin), Mario Pani (2nd violin), Giulia Dessy (viola), Oscar Piastrelloni (cello), and Andrea Piras (bass) in Cagliari, at the Lirico Theatre of Cagliari.

On 25th February 2018 she played the harpischord for the Concert of Sacred MUSICwithmusic by Vivaldi, Mozart, Villa-Lobos, Fauré, Speranza and Rossini. The performers were the Nino Rota Chamber Orchestra, the InCanto Armonico Choir, Barbara Rodio (solo violin), Luisa Sangiorgio (solo violin), Daniela Mastrandrea (harpsichord), and Bepi Speranza (conductor) and the concert took place in Palo del Colle at the Del Purgatorio Church.

In 2018 she wrote 6 original compositions inspired by the Sacred Scriptures for the concert-show A piedi nudi tra note di passionecreated by Fra Emanuele Tedesco with Daniela Mastrandrea (piano), Fra Emanuele Tedesco (synth) and Paolo Catalano (narrator). The concert was repeated on 16th Marchin Bari at the Sanctuary of St. Anthony and on 26th Marchin Bernalda in the Mater Ecclesiae Parish Church.

On 28th March 2018 she was the pianist for the Concert of Sacred MUSIC with music by Rossini, Fauré and Vivaldi performed by the InCanto Armonico Choir conducted by Bepi Speranza, and the Dilectamusica Choir conducted by  Vincenzo Damiani  with  Daniela Mastrandrea on the piano. The concert took place in Bari at the Sanctuary of St. Anthony.

In 2018 she is giving concert presentations of her new work for piano solo Lo Specchio on17th Mayin Bari in the Hall of the Frescoes of the Aldo Moro University; on 18th May in Via Argiro, Bari for the 7th edition of MEDITERRANEAN SPRING and Music in the Garden; on 19th May in Milan for Mare Culturale Urbano as part of the 7th edition of the 2018 Milan City Piano Festival; on 11th June in Bari, at the Sanctuary of St. Anthony; 21st June in Casamassima (BA), at Auditorium Church of the Sorrowful, for European Music Festival 2018..

Her current engagements are numerous and include working with among others: the French actress Ève Guerrier; the conductor Bepi Speranza; the bass players Hsueh Ju Wu and Giuseppe Bassi and the pianist Domenico Sanna; Crescendo Audioregistrazione of Bari for original compositions for image, arrangements and transcriptions; Mondo TV.

Since 2003 she has been working in a number of schools and musical societies in the local area.
